Corporate responsibility is embedded in our approach and has been an integral part of the Alliance Trust for many years.

Employees

We are committed to ensuring that all sectors of the community can be employed by the Group and we abide by all legislation designed to prevent discrimination. We recruit and promote talent regardless of sex, race, religion, age, disability or sexual orientation.

Charitable Donations

We recognise the value of encouraging our employees to take an active part in bettering the communities in which they live and work. This year we have opened a charitable foundation designed to match the charitable donations and fund raising activities of staff. In addition to the funds raised, the Scottish Communities Foundation (who will be assisting with the administration of the foundation) will match funds raised by staff to a maximum of £5,000.

Environmental Matters

We have undertaken several initiatives this year to reduce our impact on the environment which include;

Adoption of the eTreeplan where for each main register shareholder who opts to receive their Report & Accounts electronically the company will make a donation which will cover the cost of planting a tree.

Designing and planning our new headquarters in Dundee to be energy efficient.

Expanding our telephone and online facilities within Alliance Trust Savings to reduce the quantity of paper correspondence.

Reducing the need to travel by introducing and encouraging video conferencing for meetings throughout our office locations.

Social life at Alliance Trust

Alliance Trust prides itself on having a close knit community feel. For employees who wish to participate, there are several social and sporting events organised throughout the year. Quiz nights, summer barbeques, marathons and golf tournaments are an example of the events that feature in the Alliance Trust social calendar, some of which also raise money for the Alliance Trust Foundation.
