ALLIANCE TRUST EXPANDS INVESTMENT TEAM WITH THREE NEW APPOINTMENTS

 

Alliance Trust has today announced three new appointments to its investment team that extend and deepen its expertise in key asset classes. George Renouf joins as Investment Strategist, Emma Gilchrist joins as Investment Manager, Property, and Jay Newman is relocating from the groupÕs Hong Kong-based asset management business, Alliance Trust Asset Management (Asia Pacific), to take up the role of Head of Global Equities.


The three appointments will strengthen Alliance TrustÕs investment team by drawing on the new team membersÕ experience and their specialist investment knowledge. Part of an ongoing strategy to grow and develop Alliance TrustÕs investment capability, the new appointments will continue the drive to benefit shareholders by delivering strong investment performance.

George Renouf was previously Investment Strategist at Cornelian Asset Managers for four years where he shared responsibility for investment strategy and asset allocation across investment areas including derivatives, commodities, equities, bonds, structured products and pooled vehicles.  George has over 20 yearsÕ experience within the fund management and investment banking industry. He has particular expertise in derivatives, fixed income, treasury and risk management.


Jay Newman has over 25 yearsÕ experience in investment and banking and is relocating from Alliance TrustÕs Hong Kong office to take this position in Dundee.  Jay runs two focused global portfolios for Alliance Trust, and has managed international mandates for the global equity and balanced investments teams of Citigroup Asset Management. Jay will chair the investment teamÕs equity strategy meetings.


Emma Gilchrist joins Alliance Trust from Gilchrist Property Consultants Ltd, where she was director and covered all aspects of property asset management across the UK.  Prior to that, she was Senior Fund Manager for ten years at Royal London Asset Management where she ran the Royal London Property Unit Trust, which grew to £220m.
