Malcolm Dodds, Head of Platform Development & Investment Trust Services at Alliance Trust Savings, said, “We continue to see strong private investor demand for investment trusts on our platform. With seven new trusts entering our Top 20 this quarter, this demonstrates that investors are constantly looking at different investment options among the wide choice of UK investment trusts we offer.”

Commenting on the latest quarterly investment trust ranking, Iain Scouller, an Investment Trust analyst at Oriel Securities, an independent stockbroker, said

“In addition to some of the larger trusts that invest internationally such as Foreign & Colonial and Bankers, there continues to be strong demand for some of the UK specialists such as Merchants and Edinburgh Investment Trust. These offer a relatively high dividend yield at a time when deposit rates for savers are particularly low. Investors also appear to be looking to some of the trusts that performed badly during the downturn, such as TR Property, to recover going forward.”
