Alliance Trust: let’s talk reinvention

Writing in the Financial Times, respected columnist Merryn Somerset Webb outlines the ‘compelling’ story behind Alliance Trust’s ongoing transformation, saying its reinvention in recent years should be a “lesson to others”.

After attending its recent AGM in Dundee, Merryn, also editor-in-chief of MoneyWeek, concludes that more UK funds should follow the Trust’s lead in becoming a ‘one-stop shop’ for investors who need diversified, active and intelligent exposure to markets at a low cost. Funds that are easy to comprehend and follow the path set by Alliance Trust will be particularly important, Merryn adds, given the continued growth of DIY investing and emergence of new pension freedoms.
